Cannabis Events and Trade Shows 2026–2027

January 11, 2024 5 min read

Updated October 2026

Short answer: the biggest confirmed cannabis events on the 2026–2027 calendar are CHAMPS Trade Show in Austin (Oct 13–15, 2026), Hall of Flowers in New York City (Oct 21–22) and Sacramento (Nov 4–5), MJBizCon in Las Vegas (Dec 1–4, 2026), Spannabis in Bilbao, Spain (Mar 12–14, 2027) and ICBC Berlin (Apr 13–15, 2027). Several others haven't announced dates yet.

Cannabis events come in two flavors. There are the trade shows, where smoke shops and dispensaries walk miles of aisles deciding what goes on their shelves next year. And there are the festivals and cups, where the culture shows up to celebrate, compete and occasionally forget where they parked.

We've done plenty of both. This guide only lists events whose 2026 or 2027 dates we confirmed on the organizer's official site in October 2026. If a date wasn't announced, we say so and link the official site, because nothing ruins a trip like a festival that moved cities.

Event-by-event notes

CHAMPS Trade Show

CHAMPS calls itself the premier counterculture B2B expo, and for the smoke shop world that's fair. Hundreds of exhibitors meet thousands of retail and wholesale buyers: glass, vapes, papers, grinders, displays, and plenty of things you didn't know existed. It's trade-only, so registration is for qualified buyers and exhibitors. If you own a shop, this is where you see next year's shelf in person.

Hall of Flowers

The polished one. Day 1 is all business, Day 2 opens to consumers with tickets. After eight years in Santa Rosa, the Northern California show moved to Sacramento for November 2026, and the brand now runs a New York City edition too, which tells you where East Coast retail is heading.

MJBizCon

The biggest business-side show in the industry, held in Las Vegas (this year at the Las Vegas Convention Center). It's huge, expensive and genuinely useful if you're on the operator, investor or retail side. The real networking happens in the hallways, the after-parties and every hotel bar within a mile of the convention center.

Spannabis

Europe's classic cannabis fair, known for seeds, genetics and grow gear. Heads up: the show has moved from Barcelona to Bilbao, so update those old bookmarks. Check local rules on where you can consume before you go, and don't treat the fair as a free-for-all.

ICBC Berlin

The International Cannabis Business Conference's flagship event runs every year in Berlin. With Germany's 2024 legalization still shaping the European market, it's where policy, investors and international brands meet. Note that Germany has no retail stores and cannabis clubs require residency, so visitors shouldn't expect to buy.

For retailers: how to work a trade show

Trade shows are where shops meet brands like us face to face. You get to feel the product, see how it's built, and ask the questions a line sheet can't answer. A few tips from the other side of the booth:

  1. Register as a buyer early. Shows like CHAMPS verify buyers, so have your business license and resale certificate ready.
  2. Make a hit list. Walk your must-see brands first, browse second.
  3. Touch everything. With grinders, open and close it, check the teeth, pull the screen. Quality is obvious in your hand.
  4. Ask the margin questions. Minimum order, wholesale pricing, display options, reorder speed, warranty support for your customers.
  5. Ask about custom. Logo grinders for your shop are a merch line and a marketing tool at once. Our custom logo grinder guide covers how it works.
  6. Follow up within a week. Everyone's inbox explodes after a show.

We exhibit at trade shows throughout the year, so if you spot a Phoenician booth, come grind something. Can't make a show? You don't need one to stock us. See what's moving in smoke shop trends for 2026–2027, then reach out.

For consumers: how to do a cannabis festival right

  • Bring ID. Most cannabis events are 21+. Check the event's own age rules.
  • Read the consumption rules. Some events allow on-site consumption in designated areas, many don't. Sales depend on local law.
  • Don't drive. Rideshare, shuttle or walk.
  • Traveling to get there? Buy locally at a licensed dispensary and finish it there. Never fly with cannabis or carry it across state lines or borders. Our cannabis travel guide covers the rules.
  • Pack light. Water, a portable charger, and a pocket grinder so you can buy whole flower instead of dusty pre-grind.

Then and now: how cannabis events got here

Cannabis events started as culture first, business second. Amsterdam's cannabis cups crowned strains and built reputations. Grassroots festivals like Seattle Hempfest mixed music with activism. As states legalized, the business shows arrived: MJBizCon, CHAMPS, Hall of Flowers and the Cannabis World Congress.

Then 2020 wiped out almost the whole calendar. Shows were canceled or postponed and the industry moved to webinars nobody enjoyed. In-person events came back hard, and the map kept shifting: Hall of Flowers moved its NorCal show to Sacramento and added New York, Spannabis left Barcelona for Bilbao, and Berlin became a major stop after Germany's 2024 law. If you last checked an event list in 2022, a lot has changed.
